I, Joseph Wood, of the county of Orange and State of North Carolina. Being of sound and deposing mind and memory, do hereby make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form as following viz: As to my dearly beloved wife Polley Wood as it may not interrupt her, I give her part before witnesses Duncan Cameron and Fealing [sic – I believe this should be Fielding] Leathers, the wirnesses that she has her part of my estate, not interfering with anything that shall be named hereafter. Item 1st – I wish all my just debts to be paid as soon as possible. Item 2nd – I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved daughter Elizabeth Chisenhall my negro man Frank and half the rest of my property. Item 3rd – I give and bequeath to my son James Wood the rest of my property after giving to my dearly beloved sons and daughters, viz: One dollar to Solomon Wood, one dollar to Henry, one to Joseph Wood, and one dollar to Sukey Glenn, one dollar Haney King, one dollar Mary Chisenhall. I do hereby nominate James Wood my son, and Elisha Chisenhall my Executors to this my last will and testament. I hereby revoke and annul all and every other will by me, heretofore by me made/ and I hereby publish and declare this to be my last will and testament.
