All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Franklin ben.franklin.ffru@gmail.com May 2024 Source: Loose Will, NC Archives CR 073.801, Will Book Volume F, pages 42-43 Written: January 7, 1840 Recorded: Feb 1840 Testator: Eli Woods In the Name of God Amen I Eli Woods of the county of Orange & State of North Carolina being weak in body but of Perfect Memory thanks be to God therefore do constitute this my last will & Testament & desire it to be received by all as such First I Give & bequeath to my beloved wife the plantation & tract of land whereon I now live also all my stock of Horses & cattle all my house hold & Kitchen furniture all my farming tools one Waggon & Geer so long as she remains my widow and if she should marry the above named property is to belong to my children equ[a]lly I also Give to my beloved wife fifty Dollars in cash and one Negro man named Luke one negro Woman named Silvy to do as she pleases with I also Give & bequeath to my son John Washington Woods the Riggs tract of Land containing ninety two acres More or less and fifty Dollars in cash & one negro woman Pat when he becomes of Lawful age But he may receive the fifty Dollars at any time before he may become of age I also allow him to have timber off the plantation whereon I now live to improve the Riggs plantation my wife also is to have the previledge of working a part of the Riggs plantation during her widowhood I also Give to my Daughter Lucy Ann Woods one negro Girl named Susan when she becomes of Lawful age I also Give & bequeath to my Daughter Susan Ellen Woods one negro Girl named Lydia when she becomes of Lawful age I also Give & bequeath to my Daughter Margaret Ray Woods one negro boy named Green when she becomes of Lawful age I also Give & bequeath to my Daughter Adaline Woods one negro Girl named Fillis when she becomes of age I also Give & bequeath to My Daughter Elizabeth Brown Woods one negro Girl named Charity when she becomes of age and if any of my children should die before they become of age his or her share of property shall be sold & equ[a]lly divided amongst the rest of my children I also Give to my Daughter Margaret Woods fifty Dollars which is to be put at Interest [page 2] and applied to her benefit as she may need it I also Give to my Daughter Adaline Woods fifty Dollars which is to be put at Interest and applied to her benefit as she may nead it I also Give to my Daughter Elizabeth B.
