I John W. Woods do make and ordain this my last will and Testament, as follows; viz First. I give to my son, Joseph E. Woods, when he returns from the war, my best horse Second. I give and b[e]queath to my wife Margaret R. Woods all the rest of my prop- erty of every kind, to be kept by her and used for the benefit of the family. It is also my will that, whenever any of the children become of age, or marry my wife shall give off to each such portion of my property as in her judgement can be spared, and as may be proper doing, as far as may be equal justice to all. I also appoint my wife Margaret R Woods my Executrix of this my last will and testament I also request that John L. A W Gay David B McKee Orange County Court Feby Term 1863 The Execution of the foregoing last Will and Testament of John W Woods decd. was duly proved in open Court according to law See minutes Test Geo Laws CCC Additional Comments: Will Book Volume G, page 402 Recorded Feb 1863 Note 1: Original will says "Executrix", copy says "Executor". Estate Papers comprise 16 pages and are found in a folder labeled "Woods, John W". This testator was the Administrator of Nancy Dorch (died June 1860), but he died Feb 1863) before the final settlement of that estate. Inventory of 23 May 1863 lists five Negroes: Batsey, Sindy Clary Green Wilson
