All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ben Franklin ben.franklin.ffru@gmail.com May 2024 Source: Loose Will, NC Archives CR 073.801, Will Book Volume D, pages 425-426 Written: July 15, 1814 Recorded: Feb 1815 Testator: Joseph Woody To all Christian people to whome theas preasants shall come greeting know ye that I Joseph Woody of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina Being Weak in body but of sound and perfect Mind and ~~~ Memory and Knowing that it is appointed unto man once to die Do tharfore this fifteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight ~~~ Hundred and fourteen Make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in the following manner 1st I ordain and constitute my Beloved Sons Samuel Woody and Joshua Woody Executors of this my Last Will with the whole of sole power of all ~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2nd And as touching such Worldly Estate as the Lord has Blesst me with I Bequeath give devise and Dispose of in the following manner ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I give and Bequeath to my Beloved Wife Sarah Woody one Mare one Cow and one heffer and all the Hosel[household], and Kitchen furniture and the whole of the Land which belongs to the tract I Now Live on to be at her Disposeal during her Life And at her Decease I allow all the Hous[e]hold and Kitchen furniture to be given unto My beloved Son Joshua Woody and the Land Wharon I Now Live at the Deceas[e] of My Beloved Wife to be Equally Devided Between My Beloved Sons Joseph and Joshua Woody I give to my Son Joshua Woody one mare by the Name of Tib and two par of Gears and doubletrees and one plow and the ax which he uses and the tract of Land which I gave to my son Robert Woody and gave him No title for the same and My son Joshua Bought Roberts Right and Share ~~ being No title to Either of My Sons I tharefore allow Joshua to have the same as a purchase of his and Not as a gift from me and I give and bequeath unto Patsey Jones which was bound to me one Bed and furniture and one heffer ~~ ~~ and all the Rest of My Estate Not hearin[sic] Named I allow to be sold and after paying the Debts to be Equally Devided Betwean all my children To the other Side to conclude [page 2] In Witness and Testamoney Whareof I Joseph Woody have Hearunto Set My hand and affixed My seal the day and year above Writ[t]en Signed Sealed and } Joseph Woody (seal) Delivered in the } Preasent of us } John Whitted } } Jurat Thomas Whitted Jr } } Exrs qualified [Will Book Volume D, page 425] To all Christian people to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that I Joseph Woody of the County of Orange & State of North Carolina being Weak in Body: but of sound & perfect mind & memory and knowing that it is appointed unto Man once to die;
