Original in possession of Sue Guptill STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA } PAMLICO COUNTY } This deed made this 4th day of September A.D. 1901 between Hardy T. Casey & wife, Alice Casey, Albert C. Fentress and wife Sophronia Fentress, all being of Pamlico County State of North Carolina of the first part to Victoria J. Baxter of Pamlico County and state of North Carolina of the second part. Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred Forty three and 75100 $104.75 dollars to them paid by Victoria J. Baxter the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold and doth bargain sell and convey to said Victoria J. Baxter and her heirs a certain piece or parcel of land in Pamlico County and state of North Carolina adjoining the lands of Ellen Gatlin, V.J. Baxter bounded on the South & West by Ellen Gatlin and others, bounded as follows, viz: On the East by V.J. Baxter on the North by William Alexander lands containing Twenty Six acres more or less (26 acres). It having the same lands left by will of Tully Spruill and to the heirs of said Allice Casey in fee simple. It being the intent of this deed to convey the one fourth interest in said tract of land owned by said Albert Fentress & wife Sophronia Fentress in & to said lands and to convey the one fourth interest of said Allice Casey & Hardy T. Casey lands it being a one fourth interest in said Twenty Six aces of land. Said lands was left by will to the heirs of Allice Casey in will in Records of Pamlico County in Clerks office at Bayboro N. Carolina Lines 23, 24, & 25 was erased before signing. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the aforesaid tract or parcel of land, and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to the said party of the second part, her heirs and assigns to her only use and behoof forever. And the said Alice Casey & Hardy T. Casey Albert C. Fentress & Sophronia Fentress with said party of Second part and heirs and assigns, that they are seized of said premises in fee, and hath right to convey the same in fee simple; that the same are free and clear from all incumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whomsoever IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF the said first parties hath hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written. Fentress personally appeared before me this day, and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed Deed of conveyance, and the said Alice Casey SA Fentress being by me privately examined, separate and apart from their said husband, touching their voluntary execution of the same, doth state that they signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of their said husband or any other person, and that they doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
