STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA } } Pamlico County } THIS DEED, made this 22nd day of December, 1910, by Asa R. Gatlin and wife Minnie; Clara B. Wilkerson and husband S.L.Wilkerson; and J.C. Gatlin and wife Alice, of Pamlico County and State of North Carolina of the first part to James L. Gatlin of Pamlico County and State of North Carolina of the second part WITNESSETH, That said Asa R. Gatlin and wife Minnie; Clara B. Wilkerson, and husband, S.L. Wilkerson; and J.C. Gatlin and wife Alice, in consideration of Seven hundred, Sixty-two and 10/100 Dollars the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey to said James L. Gatlin his heirs a certain piece or parcel of land in Pamlico County, State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of ____________________ and others, bounded as follows, viz. Lying on the South side of Bay River, and adjoining James S. Lanešs line, and bounded as follows: Beginning at a stake n the South side of Bay River­Marršs Corner­ and runs with Marrsš line South 21 West 76 poles to the Road; thence with the Road South 76.5 East to the James S. Lane Corner (a stake, or rock); thence with said James S. Lanesšs line South 21 West about 76 poles to a stake­Lanešs corner; thence South 72 East about 79 poles to a stake in the field­another of Lanešs corners; thence North 18 about 55 poles to a stake near the stables; thence North 6 East 40 poles to a stake on the Road; thence North 84 West 8 poles to a stake; thence North 6 East to a stake on the South side of Bay River; thence up said River to the beginning, containing 60 acres more or less, this being our 4/5 undivided interest in the above-described land, these being the four rights in the Bradford Gatlin estate owned by Clara Wilkerson, Asa R. Gatlin and J.C. Gatlin and Pearl E. Johnson, said Pearl E. Johnson having deeded her 1/5 interest to Asa R. Gatlin. Excepting, however, 1/8 of an acre covering the family burial ground, the same to be a square. Also, subject to the life estate of Mrs. Ellen Gatlin. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the aforesaid tract of parcel of land, and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to the said James L. Gatlin his heirs and assigns, to their only use and behoof forever. Wilkerson, J.C. Gatlin and wife Alice And the said Asa R. Gatlin and wife Minnie; Clara B. Wilkerson and husband S.L. covenant with said James L. Gatlin his heirs and assigns, that they are seized of said premises in fee, and have right to convey the same in fee-simple; that the same are free and clear from all incumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whomsoever. Gatlin and wife Alice Gatlin personally appeared before me this day, and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed Deed of Conveyance, and the said Minnie Gatlin, Clara B. Wilkerson and Alice Gatlin, being by me privately examined, separate and apart from their said husband, touching their voluntary execution of the same, do state that they signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of their said husband or any other person, and that they doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
