STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA PAMLICO COUNTY This Deed made this 5th day of January, 1911, by Mrs. Ellen Gatlin of Pamlico County and State of North Carolina of the first part to Jas. L. Gatlin of Pamlico County and State of North Carolina of the second part: WITNESSETH That said Mrs. Ellen Gatlin, in consideration of One Hundred Dollars, to her paid by Jas. L. Gatlin, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, has bargained and sold and by these present does bargain, sell and convey to said Jas. L. Gatlin his heirs, a certain tract or parcel of land, Pamlico County, State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of _______________ and others, bounded as follows, viz.: Beginning at the S.W. Corner of what is known as the H.T. Casey land, and runs with said Casey line in a Northwardly direction to the Ferebee lead ditch at the head of Alligator Creek; thence with said lead ditch a Westwardly course to the Nichols line (Gatlinıs led ditch); thence with said Gatlinıs lead ditch and Nicholsı line a Southwardly course to another of Gatlinıs ditch, running an Eastwardly and Westwardly course­this being the same ditch that is in front of the old Gatlin residence; thence with said ditch an Eastwardly course to the Casey land, the beginning, containing 7 1/2 aces, more or less. This description is intended to cover Mrs. Ellen Gatlinıs entire interest in the tract of land at the head of Alligator Creek, which she heired from her fatherıs estate by will dated April 24, 1879, and recorded in the Public Records of Pamlico County in Book #1, Page #83. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD aforesaid tract or parcel of land, and all privileges the appurtenances thereto belonging to the said Jas. L. Gatlin his heirs and assigns, to their only use and behoof forever. And the said Mrs. Ellen Gatlin covenants with the said Jas. L. Gatlin his heirs and assigns, that she is seized of said premises in fee, and has right to convey the same in fee simple; that the same are free and clear from all incumbrances, and that she will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whomsoever. Eubanks Justice of the Peace, do hereby certify that Mrs. Ellen Gatlin and personally appeared before me this day, and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed Deed of Conveyance, and the said Mrs. Ellen Gatlin being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
