State of North Carolina Pamlico County This deed, made this 16th day of Feb. 1909 by William Long and wife Margaret Long of Pamlico County and State of N.C. of the first part to Jas L. Gatlin of Pamlico County and State of N.C. of the second part. WITNESSETH, That said William Long and wife Margaret Long, in consideration of Five hundred dollars to them paid by Jas L. Gatlin, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain sell and convey to said Jas L. Gatlin & his heirs a certain tract or parcel of land lying in Pamlico County and State of N.C. adjoining the lands of Morris Daniels and bounded as follows, viz: Bounded on the North by Alligator Creek on the East by the lands f Morris Daniels on the South by the lands of Ellen Gatlin and on the Wet by lands of Ellen Gatlin, containing Twenty Six acres more or less. It being the lands conveyed in the will of Tully Spruill to the heirs of Alice Casey, and described in a deed from H.T. Casey and others to V.J. Baxter and recorded in Book 42 page 271 and also in a deed from Alice Casey and husband and Sophronia Fentress and husband to V.J. Baxter recorded in Book 44 page 202 of Records of Pamlico county. It is also described in a deed from V.J. Baxter and husband R.H. Baxter to William Long. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the aforesaid tract or parcel of land, and all privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said Jas. L. Gatlin his heirs and assigns to his only use and behoof forever. And the said Will Long & wife Margaret Long covenant with the said Jas. L. Gatlin his heirs and assigns, that they are seized of said premises in fee and have right to convey the same in fee simple; that the same are free and clear from all incumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend against the claims of all persons whomsoever. Long and Margaret Long his wife, personal appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution annexed Deed of conveyance, and the said Margaret Long being by me privately examined, separate and apart from their said husband, touching their voluntary execution of the same, doth state that they signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of their said husband or any other person, and that they doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
