STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA--Pamlico County, THIS DEED, Made this 18th day of January 1919 by G.W. Hamilton & Wife, Annie Hamilton, of Pamlico County and State of North Carolina of the first part to J.L. Gatlin of Pamlico County and State of North Carolina of the second part. WITNESSETH, That said G.W. Hamilton & Wife, Annie Hamilton, in consideration of TWO THOUSAND & 00/100 Dollars, to them paid by J.L. Gatlin the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey to said J.L. Gatlin his heirs a certain tract or parcel of land, in Pamlico County and State of North Carolina adjoining the lands of J.H. Gaskins and others, bounded as follows, viz.: Beginning in the Gatlin and J.H. Gaskins dividing ditch and at the mouth of one of the Gatlin slipe ditches at an iron cart axle, and running Westwardly with said slipe ditch to what is known as the Gatlin four ft. lead ditch which divides what is known as the old Fifty acre tract from the Nichols tract: thence up said Four ft. dividing ditch to the woods, and then the same courses extended to the back line of the old Fifty acre tract, then an Eastwardly course with the back line of the old Fifty acre tract to Gatlin and Gaskins dividing ditch; then down same ditch to the beginning. The above description is intended to cover all the old Fifty acre tract, except such portions as is covered by deed from A.R. Gatlin and J.C. Gatlin dated February, 1912 to J.L. Gatlin and recorded in Book 56, page 565. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the aforesaid tract or parcel of land, and all privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging to the said J.L. Gatlin his heirs and assigns, to their only use and behoof forever. And the said G.W. Hamilton & Wife, Annie Hamilton covenant with said J.L. Gatlin his heirs and assigns, that they are seized of said premises in fee, and have right to covey the same in fee simple; that the same are free and clear from all incumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whomsoever. Hamilton and, Annie Hamilton his wife, personally appeared before me this day, and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed Deed of Conveyance, and the said Annie Hamilton being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband touching her voluntary execution of the same doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear compulsion of her said husband or any other person, and that she doth till voluntarily assent thereto.
