North Carolina, Pamlico County, THIS DEED, made this the 19th day of March 1925 by Asa R. Gatlin of Pamlico County, North Carolina, party of the first part to James L. Gatlin of Pamlico County, North Carolina, party of the second part, Witnesseth: THAT WHEREAS, on the 13th day of December 1921 Caroll C. Gaskins executed and delivered to James L. Gatlin his promissory note and to secure the payment of the same executed and delivered to Asa R. Gatlin, Trustee, a certain Deed of Trust which said Deed of Trust was duly recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds of Pamlico County in Book 78, Pages 119 and 120, and; WHEREAS, after default was made in the payment of the note hereby secured and after due notice had been given the said Caroll C. Gaskins and payment refuse, the said James L. Gatlin, holder of said note made request upon the said Asa R. Gatlin, Trustee, to sell the lands described in said Deed of Trust to satisfy the payment of said note and; WHEREAS, the said Asa R. Gatlin, trustee, party of the first part, caused the lands described in the said Deed of Trust to be offered for sale at the Court House door in Pamlico County on the 5th day of January 1925 after being duly advertised according to law at which time James L Gatlin became the last and highest bidder for the sum of Fifteen Hundred ($1500.) Dollars, and; WHEREAS, said bid was not raised within ten days thereafter. NOW, therefore in consideration of the premises and the sum of Fifteen Hundred ($1500.00) Dollars in hand paid by James L. Gatlin, party of the second part to Asa R. Gatlin, party of the first part, hereby sells, grants and conveys unto the said J.L. Gatlin, party of the second part, his heirs and assigns the following described lands, to-wit: Lying in No. 2 Township, Pamlico County, adjoining the lands of Geo. W. Hamilton, Anthony Avery and others and bounded as follow viz: BEGINNING at a point on the Ferebee Road about 1150 feet Southwardly from the Northwest corner of the Bradford Gatlin Nichols Tract, at a cross ditch and runs with the Ferebee Road, South 30 degrees 92 minutes West about 3270 feet to the back line of a tract known as the Nichols land; thence South 71 deg. 58 min. East about 400 feet to the second slipe ditch, extended, which will take in the width of two slipes; thence running with the said second slipe ditch North 30 deg. 92 min. East and parallel with the first line about 3200 feet to the ditch known as the cross ditch; thence with said cross ditch, Westwardly about 400 feet to the beginning, containing thirty acres, more or less. This tract of land is a part of the Nichols tract, is two cuts wide and lies on the East side of the Ferebee Road. Excepting however a right of way fifteen feet wide across the North end of the above described tract. The intent of this deed is to convey to Asa R. Gatlin the entire tract of land conveyed to Jas. L. Gatlin from Jesse C. Gatlin by deed dated December 2, 1917, said deed being recorded in Book 69, Page 196, reference to which is hereby made. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the same with all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to the said James L. Gatlin, his heirs and assigns in fee simple in as ample a manner as the said party of the first part is authorized and directed to convey the same. In testimony whereof the said Asa R.
