Thomas Green Vaughan Family Bible

Thos. Vaughan, son of Hector and Anne Vaughan, was born at Fancroft, near 
Rosecrea, King's County, Ireland, on Tuesday, 20th April, 1789

Claudia Hamilton Ellegood was born in Norfolk, Virginia, 17th Feby, 1798 & was 
daughter of Wm. and Sarah Gasey Mathews Ellegood of Princess Anne County, Va.

Thomas Vaughan and Claudia Hamilton Ellegood was married at Church Point, 
Princess Anne County, Virginia, on Tuesday, 31st January, 1815

Anne Eliza Vaughan daughter of the above was born 19th April 1816

Wm. Ellegood Vaughan was born Sunday 7th September, 1817, at 10 minutes past 4 
p.m.

Samuel Augustus Mathews Vaughan was born 13 Feby 1819 at 1/2 past 5 in the 
morning

Thomas Hector Green Vaughan was born on Saturday 24th Feby 1821 at 1/2 past 11 
o'clock a.m.

Sarah Mary Mathews Vaughan was born on Monday November 10th at 3 o'clock p.m. 
1823

John Vaughan was born Friday 13th January 1826 at 2 o'clock a.m.

Francis Wm. Sharpe Vaughan was born on Tuesday morning 22nd January 1828 at 9 
o'clock a.m.

William Ellegood Vaughan was born Saturday 17th September 1830 at 25 minutes 
past 9 o'clock a,m,

James Nimmo Vaughan was born Tuesday 26 Feby, 1833, at 11 p.m.

Maurice Hamilton was born Thursday 17 March 1836, at 3 o'clock a.m.

Mary Torrance, only daughter of Jno P. and Ann Eliza Morris was born in the 
year 1840 on the 27 of Febrary and died on the same day in the highlands of 
Georgia

Claudia Anna daughter of S.A.M. & Mary Louise Vaughan was born in the year of 
our Lord 1848 in the city of Norfolk, Va.

Cornelia Hamilton Vaughan, daughter of Augustus and Mary Louise Vaughan was 
born in the year of our Lord 1851

Richard Sylvester, son of the same, was born on the 5th of October in the year 
1853

Claudia Martha, daughter of the Rev. Jos. W. & Sarah Murphy was born on the 
2nd of July in the year 1853

Wm. Bedell, son of Jos. W. & Sarah M. Murphy was born in the year of our Lord 
1856

George Herbert, son of Rev. J.W. Murphy & Sarah his wife, was born on the 28th 
of September 1860, in the Episcopal rectory of St. David's Church, 
Scuppernong, Washington County, N. Carolina

Marriages 

Anne Eliza Vaughan was married Tuesday 13 October 1835 to Joseph C. Morris of 
Providence R.I.

Thomas Hector Green Vaughan was married on the 18th of November in the year 
1841 to MaryAnn Lovet of Gates County, N.C.

F.W.S. Vaughan was married on the 22nd of November in the year of our Lord 
1855 to Annie Scott of Elizabeth City, N.C., daughter of Jas. C. & Margaret 
Scott

Wm. Ellegood Vaughan was married on the 18 of April in the year of our lord 
1865 to Claudia Virginia Morris

S.A.M. Vaughan was married on the 12th of July in the year 1845 to Mary Louise 
Armistead of Norfolk, Va.

Sarah Mary Mathews Vaughan was married on the 3rd of June in the year of our 
Lord 1852 to Rev. Jos. W. Murphy of the city of Cork, Ireland.

Deaths

Ann Vaughan, mother of Thos. Vaughan, died in Dublin Oct. 26th, 1800, aged 36 
years & 7 mos.

Hector Vaughan, father of Thos. Vaughan, died in Montrath, Queen's County, 
Ireland, 18th March, 1814. Aged 47 years. Requiescat in pace.

Wm. Ellegood, father of Claudia H. Vaughan, died in Princess Anne County, 19th 
Oct. 1815

Sarah Gasey Ellegood, mother of Claudia H.V., died in Princess Anne, 19th 
Oct., 1822

Wm. Ellegood Vaughan the first, died 29th Sept. 1817, aged 22 days

John Vaughan, son of Thomas & Claudia Vaughan, died 30th July, 1831, aged 5 
years, 6 mos. & 17 days

Thomas Vaughan, son of Hector & Anne Vaughan, died December 6th, 1836 
Requiescat in pace.

Ann Eliza Morris, daughter of Thomas and Claudia H. Vaughan died April 19 in 
the year of our Lord 1845. Aged 29 years. Requiescat in pace.

Thomas Vaughan and Claudia Hamilton Ellegood were married on Tuesday 31st of 
January A.D. 1815

Ann Eliza Vaughan was born Friday the 19th of April 1816 at 3 o'clock p.m.

Ann Vaughan, mother of Thomas Vaughan, died in Dublin 26th of October 1800. 
Aged 32 yrs & 7 mos.

Hector Vaughan, father of Thomas Vaughan, died in Montrath, Queen's County, 
Ireland, Friday 18th March, 1814. Aged about 47 years. Requiescat in pace.

Annie Eliza Vaughan, daughter of Thomas & Claudia Vaughan, was married to 
Joseph C. Mirris of Providence, Rhode Island, Tuesday 13th October, 1835

Additional note by Emily Randall:
Francis William Sharpe Vaughan remembered the death of his father in his 
memoirs:

 At the age of 45 years he had run almost completely down; dead poor, with a 
large family on his hands. He tried school teaching; had a few scholars. 
Enough was realized to keep off actual want. In December, 1836, he died at the 
age of 47 years, my mother being at the same time dangerously ill, from which 
she recovered only after several months. A widow now with eight children, with 
no permanent home and without a dollar!
I remember my father's going to his grave, the rude hearse moving slowly 
along, and shabby little I among the few, few followers.
