FLOYD PAUL DAVIS The Rev. Floyd Paul Davis, pastor of Berea Baptist Church, Pasquotank County, N.C. and former pastor of the Courtland, Sedley and Sycamore Baptist churches of this county, passed away on Wednesday evening of last week in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Norfolk, after an illness of several months. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Virginia May Perdue, four children, Vernon Davis of Woodberry Forest, Q.C. Davis, Miss Sarah Davis and Miss Virginia Davis of Elizabeth City, N.C.; one grandchild, his mother, Mrs. Q.C. Davis, Sr. of South Norfolk; three brothers, Dr. W. Hersey Davis of Louisville, Ky.; Q.C. Davis, Jr., of South Norfolk, and Jefferson Davis of Pittsburgh, Penn.; two sisters, Dr. Rose May Davis of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. R.H. Holden of Durham, N.C. and a number of nephews and nieces. Born in 1883, the Rev. Mr. Davis was educated at Temple University, Crozer Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He had also held pastorates in Chesterfield County and in Florida. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at Berea Church. Interment followed in Elizabeth City. While in Southampton County Mr. Davis and family and his mother resided in Courtland.
