Marriage Bond Book
North Carolina
Pasquotank County

   Know all Men by these Presence that we THADEUS FRESHWATER, JAMES OVERMAN 
and (blank) are held and firmly bound unto our Sovereign Lord the King his 
heirs and Successors in the Just and full sum of Fifty Pounds Proclamation 
Money for the True payment whereof We Jointly and Severally bond ourselves our 
heirs Executors Administrators and each of them firmly by these Presents 
Sealed with our Seals and Dated this 30th Day of August 1774.
   The Condition of the above Obligation is such that whereas the above 
bounden THADEUS FRESHWATER hath made Application for a Licence for a Marriage 
to be Celebrated between him and ANN WEST of Pasquotank aforesaid Spinster 
According to an Act of Assembly of this Province Ratified the 4th of April 
1741 Now if it shall not appear at any time hereafter that there is any 
Lawfull Cause to Obstruct the said Marriage then the above obligation to be 
void Else to Remain in full force and Virtue.
