Hinton, on condition that she shall have lawful heirs, begotten of her body, and to survive her death, my negro woman Cherry and her five children, also all born hereafter of said negro woman, and on condition that said Penelope M. Hinton shall die without, said, lawful issue or children surviving her, My wish and desire is, that said negro woman remain in possession of my daughter Margaret H. Hinton, during her natural life, and at her death to be equally divided among my children, and my grand children who may be living at the time. I also wish my negro woman Jennie and her children, Edmond, Peggy, John, Matilda, and Clarky and her increase, together with my negro woman Chana, and her children, Betsey, George, Isabely, & Mary with their increase, to remain in the possession of my daughter Margaret H. Hinton, during her natural life, and at her decease to be equally divided amongst my children and grandchildren who may be surviving at the time. Item 2nd I give and bequeath to the heirs of my daughter, Rhoda Gregory, decd, my negro woman Velatt, boy Jeff, and girl Hester, to be equally divided between them, when Isaac shall arrive at the age of twenty one years, and said negroes to be hired out for their benefit until that time. Item 3rd I give and bequeath to my daughter Emma Sawyer my negro woman Rachel and her children, Pherebee, Edmond, Cortney & Priston(?), to her and her heirs forever. And lastly I nominate and appoint my son, J. D. Stokely, my sole executor to this my last will and testament, and commit to him the keeping of my will. Signed, sealed, published, and declared by the said Lydia Stokely the testratrix, as her last will and testament, in the presence of us, who were present at the time of signing and sealing thereof.
