A number of other Hollanders are now en route to this section of the State and within a short time the new colony will be peopled. The first to arrive were Messrs. A. Dekker and N.J. Beverson, Dutchmen, who are temporarily located at Castle Haynes. Mr. Dekker is an expert in the dairy business while Mr. Beverson has had wide and valuable experience in the cultivation of tobacco, having raised the weed in Sumatra. With them was Mr. P.I. Rond, a Dutch farmer, who is temporarily at New Berlin. Four other Holland families are now en route to Wilmington. A few weeks ago a Mr. Vogels arrived and purchased a small fuit farm at Castle Haynes. He is not only an expert Dutch farmer but has had in Holland a great deal of experience with the co-operative marketing of farm produce and with the management of farmer's organizations. He resigned the management of one of the most important farm organizations to come to this country. His farm at Castle Haynes will really be only a side line as his most important work will be in taking charge of and organizing the business of the settlers who locate in the new colony. He will take on this work as soon as a sufficient number of Dutch families have arrived and other arrangments have been pushed far enough along to make it possible for the new colony to start. During the past few days a number of other homeseekers have been here on a visit of inspection and among those who decided definitely to locate in this section are three Hungarian families who have made ample means and experience for making a success in eastern Carolina. They are Mr. J. Kosh and Mr. J. Saunders, who have secured 20 acres of land each, and Mr. Benedek Barta, who has secured 30 acres. Mr. Andrew Laslo, the purchaser of 20 acres is expected to arrive with his family next week. The Carolina Trucking Development Company has also recently had a visit from a group of three wealthy and successful North Italian families who have made a success in the north. They expect to dispose of their property in the north and cast their lot with their countrymen at St. Helena.
