W.P. Wood, Secretary of State, who has the personal supervision of the affairs of the North Carolina Soldier's Home, ex-offico, says the home will make a demand on the estate of the late Dr. George W. Walker, for about $650 expenses to which the State was put in the care of Walker for the nearly four years that he was an inmate of the home. He has reason to believe, he says, that there will be no serious objection raised to the payment of this claim by the executor or beneficiaries of the will - Wake Forest College and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Indeed, there is a strong indication now that the will will be contested by relatives on the ground that Dr. Walker was mentally irresponsible when the will was made. He came to the home from Pender County and his estate is worth at least $10,000.
