Ketchum was employed at the camp as engineer of a skidder and was engaged in its operation when the heavy steel cable holding this snapped and wound around his body in such a manner that the victim was literally mashed to death. He lived for a few minutes, but death ensued just after the heavy coils had been taken from his body.
