Burnett of Burgaw being the contracting parties. The wedding came as a surprise to their friends. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J.M. Page, pastor of the Baptist Church, at the home of the bride in the presence of the family and a small number of friends. Following the ceremony the bridal party went in automobiles to Biscoe, where the bride and groom boarded the 5:30 p.m. train going south. Mrs. Burnett is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Deaton of Troy, sister of Mrs. W.T. Huntley of Raleigh, and Mrs. O.B. Deaton, register of deeds for Montgomery County, was educated at Troy High School and Meredith College, was a member of choir First Baptist Church, Raleigh, also being member of Meredith choir during her senior year at college, has been organist of the Baptist Church in Troy, teacher of instrumental music and voice during present session of Troy High School. Mr. Burnett is son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Burnett of Pender County, and was educated at Burgaw High School and Wake Forest College, won the J.L Allen orator's medal during his senior year at college, was admitted to the bar August, 1910, practiced law at Lillington and Troy, was reading clerk for the extra session of the General Assembly, and at the session of 1913, is now located at Burgaw where he is building up a lucrative law practice and taking a leading position in the politics of his county.
