Too all people unto whom this present Bill of Sale come Thomas Parris of the precinct of Perquimmons and William Badham of the precinct of pasquotank merchants sendeth Greeting Know yee that we Thomas Parris and William Badham for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and thirty six pounds current money of North Carolina in hand paid at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents by Thomas Bray Esqr. of Chowan Precinct have given granted bargained and sold and by these presents do fully give grant bargaine and sell unto the said Thomas Bray Esqr. his heirs executors administrators and assigns two third parts of the good Ship Albemarle of the portage or burthen of eighty three tons or thereabouts and now lying in the River Coscoopernung together with all her masts sails cables anchors and other appurtances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the two thirds of the said Ship and the premises and appurtances unto the said Thomas Bray Esqr. his heirs executors administrators and assigns to his own proper use benefit and behoof forever and we the said Thomas Parris and William Badham doe avouch ourselves to be the sole true and lawful owners of the aforesaid premises and appurtenances having in ourselves full power good right and lawful authority to sell and dispose of the same in manner aforesaid free and clear and freely and clearly acquitted exonerated and discharged off and from all former and other gifts grants sales troubles files charges and incumbrances whatsoever and further we the said Thomas Parris and William Badham do covenant promise and agree to and with the said Thomas Bray Esqr. his heirs executors administrators and assigns from henceforth and forever hereafter to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained premises unto the said Thomas Bray Esqr. his heirs executors administrators and assigns against all claims and demands whatsoever and persons whomsoever (peril of the Seas, Fire Pyrates and Enemys only excepted) In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 31st day of March Anno Domini 1720 W.
