Perquimans County, NC - Thomas Blitchenden Land Grant, 1725 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Perquimans County Deed Book B, #196 His Excellency John Lord Carteret palatine and the rest of the true and absolute Lord proprietors of Carolina To all to whom these presents shall come greeting in our Lord God everlasting Know ye that we the said Lords and absolute proprietors according to our Great Deed of Grant bearing date the first day of May Anno Dom. 1668 given to our County of Albermarle under our hands and Great Seal of our said province Do hereby give & grant unto Thomas Blitchenden of our said County a tract of Land containing Two hundred acres lying in Perquimans Precinct beginning at a Pine in Thomas Lilly’s line then along Thomas Blitchendens line to Black Oak Timothy Tayler corner then along his line to a pine William Brins corner then along along his line to a Black Thomas Lilly’s line thence along his line to the first station which land was Granted by Patent bearing date the 16th Day of August Anno Dom 1716 to Benjamin William and by him elapsed for want of tree seating and planting as the Law directs and is now become due to the said by virtue of an order of Council dated August the 10th 1720 To have and to hold the said Land with all rights and priviledges of Hunting Hawking fishing and fowling with all woods waters and rivers with all profits commodities & Hereditaments to the same belonging or appertaining Except one half of all gold and Silver Mines unto him the sd. Thomas Blitchenden his Heirs and assigns forever in as large & ample to all intents and purposes as by the sd. Deed is granted or intended yielding and paying unto us over Heirs & Successors yearly every twenty ninth day of September the fee rent of One Shilling for every fifty Acres hereby Granted to be holdon of us our Heirs and successors in free and common Soccage provided that is the said Thomas Blitchenden his Heirs or assigns shall not Seat and plant or cause to be seated and planted thereon within three years after the sale hereof then this patent to be void otherwise to stand and be in full force Given under the Seal of the Colony this 16th Day of December Anno Dom. 1720 Witness our trusty and well beloved Charles Eden Esq.
