1698 June 6

N. Carolina ss. At a Counsel holden the sixth day of June Anno Domini 1698 at 
the house of Mrs. Elizabeth Godfrey. Present the Honorable Thomas Harvey Esqr. 
Deputy Governor the Honorable Daniel Akehurst, Francis Toms, Major Samuel 
Swain, Capt. Henderson Walker, Lords proprietors Deputies.

Benjamin Laker Esqr. came before this Board and in consideration of the 
natural love and affection that he beareth to his daughter Ruth Laker and for 
her maintenance and advancement doth give grant alien enfeoff and confirm to 
the said Ruth Laker her heirs and assigns for ever all that his plantation and 
tract of land containing five hundred thirty eight acres lying and being on 
the sound side in the precinct of Perquimans adjoining on a creek that parts 
this land from the land of Edward Wilson the said plantation being now in the 
tenure and possession of John Watts with all and singular the houses orchards 
fences priviledges hereditaments and appurtenances to the same belonging or 
appertaining with the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders there 
of.

To have and to hold the said plantation land premises and appurtenances to her 
the said Ruth Laker her heirs and assigns for ever, and of this his grant the 
said Benjamin Laker prayeth that a record be made.
