A native of Hertford, N.C., he worked for the Grizzard’s Service Station. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Bertha Lowe Outland and a son of John W. and Mrs. Emma Outlaw. He was a member of Merry Hill, N.C. Baptist Church. Surviving are a step-daughter, Mrs. Dale Johnson of Chesapeake; two sisters, Mrs. Doris O. Lassiter and Mrs. Juanita O. Hurdle of Aulander, N.C.; and two half-brothers, Lester Terry of Aulander and Wallace Terry of Norfolk. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. K. Donald Berg. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the home of T.L. Salmon Sr., 114 Chestnut St. Wednesday.
