   Miss Ellen M. White died at Raiford Hospital Wednesday night after an 
extended illness. Miss White was in her 73rd year, and was a sister of the late 
Thomas P. White of this community, a native of Perquimans County, N.C., the 
daughter of the late Exum Newby and Mrs. Sarah Parker White of that county. She 
lived in the Franklin community for some years but had spent the greater part of 
her life in Baltimore and Thurmont, Md.

   An occasional visitor in Franklin with her sister, Miss Mary Isabella White, 
who died about six years ago, she had been spending the past year with Mr. and 
Mrs. Isaac C. White of the community. She was a lifelong and consistent member 
of the Society of Friends, holding her membership in Baltimore. Another sister 
of hers, who will be remembered by many Southampton people, was Mrs. Martha P. 
Bristow, wife of the late Richard A. Bristow of Corinth, Mrs. Bristow dying 
about 18 years ago.

   Funeral rites will be conducted this (Friday) afternoon at 4 o’clock from the 
Bethel Friends Meeting House by the Rev. James Rauch Stein, Bethel pastor, and 
burial will be made in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery here. Her 
nephews will serve as pallbearers.
