I, John Arnold, of North Carolina, County of Albemarle, Precinct of Perquimans, planter, being very sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God. Therefore, calling unto mind the mortals of my body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament, that is to say, principally, and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it; and my body I recommend to the Earth, to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I receive the Same again by the might Power of God, and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath placed God to bless me in this life, I give, demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. Imprimis, I give and bequeath to Elizabeth, my dearly beloved wife, and equal parts with my children of all my moveable estate, household goods, debts and moveable effects. Item. I give to my well beloved son John Arnold the plantation whereon I now live, to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give to the child that my wife now goes with, all my land at Deep Creek, if it be male to him and his heirs forever, and if it be female I give the said land to my two daughters, Elizabeth and Sarah to be equally divided between them and to the use of them and their heirs forever. And, I do nominate and appoint Elizabeth, my dearly beloved wife, and Samuel Parsons to be my whole and sole Executrix and Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and annul all and every other former testaments, wills, legacies and bequests, and Executors by me in any ways before named, willed and bequeathed, verifying and conforming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the day and year above written.
