Will of Enoch RAPER

Probated: July Term 1789

In the Name of God Amen, I Enoch RAPER of the county of Perquimans and Province 
of North Carolina being indisposed or ill disposed of body but of sound and 
disposing mind and memory thanks be given to God for the same do make an ordain 
this my Last Will and Testament knowing that it is appointed for all men once to 
die and calling to mind the mortality of my body and touching such worldly estate 
where with it hath please God to bless me with in this life do dispose of the 
same in the following manner (viz)
First: I desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid in a 
convenient time after my decease by Executors hereafter named.
Secondly: My will is that the entries laid if there should be any land had or got 
by virtue of said entries that the same be equally divided amongst my three 
children Luke, Robinson & Fanny RAPER. To them and their heirs of their bodies 
lawfully begotten, but in case they should die and leave no such heirs, to Henry 
RAPER son of Evan RAPER.
Thirdly: I give to my Daughter Fanny RAPER two head of Cattle (viz) four cows 
with their yearling, one steer five years old and one four year old with all 
their increase; also two feather beds and furniture, one large trunk, with all 
her mothers weaving apparatus  of what kind or quality meaning? a pair of silver 
shoe buckles and gold ring to be included and my old negro SARAH to be with her 
to do for her; not meaning? any of the above given to my before mentioned 
Daughter to be taken to pay any debts. The remainder of my Estate of what kind of 
quality to be equally divided between my two sons Luke & Robinson RAPER. I 
likewise desire my Executors to take care of my Daughter during her remaining in 
the manner she —— in they to have the interest of what is given to her during 
their care over her.
Lastly: I do hereby constitute & appoint my Brother John RAPER with my two sons 
Luke and Robinson RAPER& other Brother Henry RAPER, Executors of this my Last 
Will and Testament is hereby revoking and dismissing all former Will or Wills 
Legacies or bequests by me willed or bequeathed notifying and confirming this and 
no other to be my Last Will and Testament.
In Witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty fourth day 
of December, One Thousand and Seven Hundred and Eighty two.

by the said Enoch RAPER to be his Last Will and Testament
in the Presence of viz interlined before signed:

July Term at Hertford A.D. 1789
The Last Will and Testament of Enoch RAPER was brought into Court & proved by the 
affd. of Joseph MCADAMS. On Evidence thereto at the same time Luke RAPER was 
Qualified as Executor agreeable to Law.
