Mason http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00016.html#0003873 October 22, 2018, 4:02 pm Source: Register Of Deeds Written: 1802 Perquimans County, NC Will of Joseph Raper Vol. E, p. 168-170 7 April 1802 Probated: May Term 1802 To all Christian People to whom these present shall come agreeing to know ye that I Joseph RAPER of the State of North Carolina and County of Perquimans being much indisposed in body tho’ sound & disposing memory, do make & ordain this to be my last Will & Testament for the Disposal of Such Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me within this life in the following manner viz: 1st: I give & bequeath unto my Beloved wife Mary RAPER three cows & calves first choice, one black mare, one yoke of Oxen & cart, five Ewes & lambs, first choice, two ploughs, four small hoes & two small axes, one house Sow & seven shoats & one black headed Sow & right two year olds in the woods, two feather beds & furniture, first choice, two iron pots, one tea kettle, one dutch oven, one coffee mill, six chairs first choice, one meat hogshead & two pork barrels, two wheat ——, half dozen earthen plates, half dozen tea cups & saucers, one coffee pot, one case knives & forks, two tin pans, one pewter dish & four pewter plates, one woman saddle, & the use of the mans saddle, two blocks bees first choice, one old chain & clever & one chest & the use of Negroe Woman RACHEL & what increase she may have from this time during my said wife’s natural life also the use & benefit of the houses & plantation whereon I now live, also that part of my back land which is not wheat at this time during her natural life, also the use of two Negroe boys, viz MILES & JACK until my son Nathan RAPER shall arrive tot he age of Twenty one years or during her widowhood. 2nd Item: I give & bequeath unto my son Joseph RAPER one —— of land which I lately purchased from Thomas WEEKS containing seventy five acres — the same more or less to him & his heirs for ever & then failing to go to my son Nathan RAPER & his heirs. 3rd Item: I give & bequeath unto my son Thomas RAPER the land & plantation whereon I now live after the Incumbrance of his mother before mentioned shall be appt.? also the Beaufate? which is in the house (after his mother’s death). 4th Item: I give unto my son Nathan RAPER two Negroe Boys MILES & JACK to him & his Heirs. 5th Item: I leave Negroe man ANDREW to be Hired out yearly for the benefit of my estate & in case of money being wanted to pay any demand I leave him to be sold by my Executors. 6th Item: I leave all the remainder of my estate to be sold & after paying all my Just Debts to be equally divided amongst my Six Daughters, Mary, Elizabeth Luerany, Becky, Sarah & Patsey RAPER. And Lastly: I nominate & appoint my trusty friends William ROBINSON, John RAPER & Thomas Nicholson Executors of this my Last Will & Testament Hereby revoking & disnulling all & every other Will or Wills by me made or ordained in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal the 7th of the 4th Month 1802.
