This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Donna Kraska RWSQ73A@prodigy.com ==================================================================== North Carolina State Archives Loose Records Bastardly Bonds State of North Carolina, Person County Be it remembered that on 23rd day of May in the year of our lord 1808 that James LONG of the county aforesaid & plantors, Josias CARVER plantor and John DICKSON plantor came before us Isham EDWARDS and Artha BROOKS two of the justices ------for said county and severly acknowledged them selves to owe to the state of North Carolina that is to say the said James LONG one hundred pounds and the said Josias CARVER fifty pounds and said John DICKSON fifty pounds each to be respectively levied on their lands and tenements, goods and chattels if the said James LONG shall make defaults in the performance of the condition under written. The condition of this recognizance is such whereas above bounded James LONG is charged by Poley NUNN of the county of Person and state of North Carolina. Single woman that she the said Poley NUNN is now with child by him the said James LONG which child when born will be a bastard if therefore the said James LONG shall personally appear before the justices of the court of Pleas and Quarter ------to be held for the a foresaid county of Person at the court house on the eight day of August next then and there to abide by and performed what shall thereby injoined him by the said court concerning the premises then the above written recognizance shall be void in witness where of we have here unto sett our hands seals.
