Bastardly Bonds

State of North Carolina, Person County

Know all men by these presents that Lawrence WELCH JR, Maurice WELCH 
and Lawrence WELCH SR are held firmly bound unto the state of North 
Carolina in the sum of two hundred dollars, for which payment we bond 
ourselves, our heirs, executor and admrs jointly and severally, 
sealed with our seals and this 15th day of March 1858

Whereas, the said Lawrence WELCH stand charged with the maintenance 
of a bastard child begotten by him upon the body of  Martha DICKSON 
of said county.  Now the condition of the above obligation is such, 
that of the said Lawrence WELCH shall perform the order of the court 
of Pleas & Quarter ------of said county from any and all charges for 
the maintenance of the same, other the above obligation is to be void 
otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
