Book G pages 196-197 This Indenture made & entered into this 7th day of August in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty three between William Lipscomb of the County of Orange & State of N. Carolina of the one part & Thomas P. Evans of the county & state aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said William Lipscomb for & in consideration of the sum of thirteen hundred & fifteen dollars to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Evans. At or before the signing & delivering of these presents the ___ whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath granted, bargained, & sold by those presents doth grant bargain sell & deliver to him the said Thomas P. Evans a certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the aforesaid county of Person on the waters of South Hyck? & bounded as follows (VIZ) Beginning at a poplar Stump a corner of Ebenezer Meeting house Lot running thence north 7 chains to a ___ Oak a corner of the School house Lot thence West one chain & 75 links to a small hickory a corner of ditto thence North 3 chains & 26 links to a sassafras thence East one chain & 75 links to pointers, thence north 30 chains & 2 links to a Stone or Sycamore, thence East 75 links to a Sycamore thence North three chains 250 links Thence West 75 links to a Sycamore thence north three chains & 48 links to pointers at Vanhooks field Thence West 17 chains & 25 links to pointers thence South 34 chains & 50 links to pointers Thence South 16 chains to pointers Thence East 3 chains & 50 links to a Hiccory Thence South thirty three chains & thirty six links to pointers Thence East 39 chains & 50 links to a Stake hence North 49 chains & thirty six links to a white Oak thence West to the first Station Containing by estimation One hundred & Sixty three Acres Be the same more or less to have & to hold the Said granted land & premises to him the aforesaid Thomas P. Evans his heirs or assigns together with all & singular its appurtenances, & the said William Lipscomb doth hereby covenant & agree & with him the said Evans; that he is seized & possessed of a good sure & lawful estate of inheritance in said land; that he has full power & authority to convey the same that he does hereby convey the same to him the said Evans, & to his heirs or assigns & that he will forever hereafter warrant & defend the title to said land to him the said Evans & to his heirs or assigns against the claims of himself and all other person. In witness hereof I do hereby set my hand & seal the day & date above written. Done in presence of N. B. the above mentioned Lipcomb makes a reserve(?) the grave yard South of the Dwelling house where his wife & some of her other family was buried.
