Thurs., June 7, 1860  - North Carolina Argus June 7, 1860
   -- BEN, the property of DR. JOHN WHITFIELD, of Person County, N. C. , tried 
by the Person Superior Court for murdering a colored child with laudanum, was 
convicted and sentenced to be hanged on the 8th of June next. BEN had able 
counsel and a fair trial.
