Friday, April 26, 1816, Raleigh Minerva March 29, 1816
HORRID MURDER
    On Friday night, the 29th ult., HENRY A. JONES of Person County, was 
murdered by two of his Negro women; they were assisted in destroying the 
corpse by his Negro man, JAN. He was killed on his own yard and burnt almost 
to ashes, the remains of some of his bones have been found, almost beat to 
dirt. The Negro man has confessed that the women killed him, when he was 
absent from home, but that he assisted in burning the body. All three of the 
Negroes have been secured in Person gaol, and will no doubt meet with the fate 
which their horrid crime deserves.
