The Roxboro Courier, Thursday, September 17, 1940
Mrs. Maria Garrett Daniel, of the Brookland Community died Saturday at 3:35 pm 
due to complication of diseases.
She died at home.
In declining health for two years.
She was 62.
Funeral held Sunday at 3:00 pm at Brookland Methodist Church, by her pastor, 
Rev. Dwight A. Petty. Rev. S.F. Nicks of Cedar Grove assisted.
Burial in Burchwood Cemetery Annex.
Survivors:
Carter G. Daniel
One daughter: Miss Naomi Daniel
Five sons: Dewey C., Talmadge S., McKinley and Charlie C. Daniel all of 
Roxboro and Andy G. Daniel of Raleigh
Three grandchildren
Two brothers: W.H. Garrett of Greensboro and C.P. Garrett of Fuquay Springs
Pallbearers: Frank, Clarence and Raymond Oakley, Ruffin Lee, Raymond Lester 
and Graham Hicks.
Flower bearers: Mesdames Frank Oakley, Raymond Daniel, Ruffin Lee, Robert 
Daniel, Marvin Clayton, Misses Ruby Oakley, Arlene Griffin, Nellie Lester, 
Joyce Lester, Myrtle Lester, Nellie Oakley, Clara Dean Garrett, Dorothy Oakley 
and Patsy Anne Daniel
