Person County, North Carolina Loose Estate Papers

Person County, North Carolina, know all men by these presents that we 
W T NOELL for Peter DIXON and W P WILKINS acknowledge ourselves 
indebted to the state of North Carolina in the sum of Two hundred 
eighty five and 04/100 dollars to which payment will and timely to be 
made we bind ourselves our heirs executors and administrators jointly 
and servally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated 
this the 16th day of Dec 1862

The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above 
bound W T NOELL for Peter DIXON has this day received from WL H 
THOMAS executor of Jacob DIXON senr decd. the sum of One hundred 
forty two 52/100 dollars in full of his distributive share in the 
estate of Jacob DIXON senr decd., now therefore if any debt or debts 
duly owing by the said Jacob DIXON senr decd. shall hereafter be sued 
for and recovered or otherwise be duly made appear and in every such 
case the said W T NOELLE for Peter DIXON shall duly refund and pay 
his notable share of such debt or debts thru the foregoing obligation 
to be void and of no effect otherwise to remain in full force
