Dixon of the County of Person and State of North Carolina being of sound and disposing memory make this my last will and testament. 1st I want all my just and honest debts paid after that shall have been done I want my property to remain as it now is during my wife's lifetime for her support and those of my children living with her unmarried. After her death I will and bequeath all my property to my four single daughters now living with me to wit: Nancy W Dixon, George Aelsay(sp?) Dixon, Susan Green Dixon and Lewis Archer Boswell Dixon, during their celibacy or unmarried state and until the last one shall marry, for their support without the right to sell or convey the same. After all shall have married I want all my property divided equally between all my children except Emily Frances Evans the wife of Howell Evans, he being in debt to me in the sum of $160.00 One hundred and sixty five Dollars. When the balance of my children shall be made equal with her for said amount then she shall have her share of remainder of all my property Given under my hand and seal this the Year of our Lord Ano Domeni 1818 April 5th Witness J.R. Dixon have made my last will and testament in writing bearing date on the 5th day of April 1881 and have thereby made sundry divisis(sp?) and bequests, I do by this writing which I hereby declare to be a codicil to my said to be taken and construed as part thereof, will and direct that each of my four daughter Nancy W Dixon, George A Dixon, Susan G Dixon and Lewis A. B. Dixon shall whenever either of them marry or at the death of my wife have allotted to each of them a bed and furniture or the value thereof in money as they may choose. And I do hereby give and bequeath to my four daughters above mentioned my sewing Machine each one of my four said daughters to have an equal interest in said machine. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this the 17th day of April 1881 Signed & sealed In presence of Samuel A. Dixon Jno. A. Barnett North Carolina In the Probate Court Person County A paper purporting to be the last will and Testament of Samuel A Dixon deceased with Codicil annexed, is exhibited before me, the undersigned Judge of Probate for said county, by R. A. Williams one of the subscribing witnesses and the due execution of said will by the said Samuel A. Dixon by the oath and examination of R. A. William's & J. R. Long & of the codicil by Jno(sp). A Barnett the subscribing witnesses thereto: who being duly sworn, doth depose and say and each for himself deposith and saith, that he is a subscribing witness to the paper writing now shown him, purporting to be the last Will and Testament & Codicil of Samuel A Dixon, that the said Samuel A. Dixon in the presence of these deponents subscribed his name at the end of said paper writing, which is now shown as aforesaid, and which bears date of the 5th day April 1881 & 17th day of April 1881. And the deponents further say, that the said Samuel A Dixon the testator aforesaid, did at the time of subscribing his name as aforesaid, declare the said paper writing so subscribed by him, and exhibited to be his last Will & Testament, and this deponent did therefore subscribe his name at the end of said Will as an attesting witness thereto and at the request and in the presence of said testator. And this deponent further saith that at the said time when the said testator subscribed his name to the said last will as aforesaid and at the time of the deponents subscribing his name to the said will as an attesting witness thereto as aforesaid, the said Samuel A. Dixon was of sound mind and memory, of full age to execute a Will, and was not under any restraint to the knowledge information or belief of this deponent: And further these deponents say not.
