Kilpatrick was a son of Bryan and Elizabeth Burney Kilpatrick of Pitt County. His two story home, still in good repair, stands on the South Side of Secondary Road 1919, 0.7 mile East of the junction with Secondary Road 1753, near St. Johns, Pitt County. This Bible, printed in 1848 by the American Bible Society of New York, was owned in 1985 by Mr. Alton Slade Chapman. John B. Kilpatrick & Hollon E. Pridgen were married by the Rev.
