Benja Hazelton written 1855 - 1864

I will to my brother Pinckney Hazelton one Negro man Jacop.

I will to my sister Phila A. Williams one Negro man Maedson?, woman Gemima, 
Frank, Stanly, Henryetta and infant.

I will to my nephew Walter Dunn the amount of two notes which I hold against 
him for between ten and twelve hundred dollars or if he should pay them to 
me then I will him one thousand dollars to be paid him in twelve months 
after my executor qualifies to this my will.

I will to my brother Cristopher Hazelton children Ann Doud and Elias 
Hazelton one Negro woman Annis and her children Peter, Soloman, Bill, Dick, 
Jim, Susan, Ann and Mary and her children Fred, Augustis, John, Daniel, 
Catherine, Jane and child, Elendor, Ned, Nancy, Fed?, I bought of D. Clark, 
little Nancy, Shade.

My Bank Stock in the Branch Bank at Newbern, the land and plantation here on 
Grinal Creek containing four hundred and thirty nine acres, joining Feb 
Johnson and others; also two small pieces of land on Swift Creek called the 
Kenedy and Right (or Kight) lands containing two hundred acres joining Susan 
Worthington, William Worthington and others; also Negroes Sue, Jack, Liza, 
Betty, Donna and infant and all their future increase to be equally divided 
between Ann Doud and Elias Hazelton and their heirs.

I will to my daughter Eliza Right a base begotten child of Henery Right 
single woman forty shares of Bank Stock in the Bank of Washington at 
Washington; also one tract or undivided piece of land called the Edwards 
place which seven thirteenth of is mine. I also give said Eliza woman 
Moriah, Henery and infant of hers; also Mary I bought of John Edwards, 
Spicer &c to said Eliza Right and her heirs.

I leave my friend Jesse Noble guardian in confidence for said Eliza Right 
until she arrives to twenty one years of or marries.

I will to my brothers children that is John Hazelton, Mary Dales and Benja 
Hazelton one Negro woman Beckey and her children Della, Bryan, Hariet, 
Ginna, Lyne, William and their increase.

I give to my cousins Catherine Wilson, Sarah Wilson, each two hundred 
dollars; James Wilson of Jonas two hundred dollars to be paid at the end of 
one year.

I will to Francis Merrian child of Morrenda Gorrel? one hundred and twenty 
acres of land called the Gwaltney land adjoining William Kirkman and others 
and if he dies in the mean time his mother Morenda Jarrel is to inherit.

I will to William Cox of Hollon one Negro boy Spence upon condition he 
marries and if he dies without heirs then said is to go to John Hazelton, 
Mary Dales and Benja Hszelton and their heirs.

I will to Gatsey Dixon two hundred dollars.

I will to Mrs. Mary Brooks during her life the use of one Negro man Rufus 
also I expect her to keep Doceann and Elias Hazelton until they arrive to 
twenty one years old or marries and upon that condition and I leave her the 
use of Sue and children and Stephen during the time she keeps Doceann and 
Elias after her death said Negroes to Doceann and Elias or survivor of them.

All remainder of property not conveyed in this will I leave to be equally 
divided such as fifty shares of Stock in the Bank of Washington, Henery, 
Vine and Rachel, Patience, all crops, stock &c I leave to be equally divided 
between Pinckney, Phila, John Hazelton, Mary Dales, Benja Hazelton, Walter 
Dunn, my daughter Eliza Kight base begotten born of Rena Kight single woman 
&c and Doceann Hazelton, Elias Hazelton.

I will my sister Phila Williams to qualify as my lawful executor.
