All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Guy Potts http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00017.html#0004214 April 21, 2013, 6:47 pm Written: November 28, 1783 Recorded: January 1784 State of North Carolina Pitt County To all people to whome these presents shall come I John Bentley planter of the County and State afs'd send greeting Know ye that I John Bentley for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five pounds specie to me in hand paid before the ensealing and delivery of these presents by Daniel Pipkin of the County and State afs'd planter the receipt whereof I do acknowledge myself to be fully satisfied therewith and contented have given bargained sold and delivered conveyed and confirmed and set over and by these presents do fully and freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell convey confirm and set over the sd Daniel Pipkin his heirs and assigns forever a tract or parcel of land containing by estimation two hundred acres more or less lying and being on the South Side of Little Contentney in the County and State afs'd it being a tract of land that Milus Broom took up in the year 1782 and in the seventh year of our Independence. Beginning at a pine on Phillip Pipkins line running No. 100 poles to a pine John Moys corner thence Wt. 320 poles with the sd Moys line to a white oak in a pond thence So. 100 poles to a pine on Phillip Pipkins line thence with the sd Pipkins line to the first station. To have and to hold the said tract of parcel of land together with all and singular the houses buildings gardens orchards woods under woods timber trees and all other appurtenances whatsoever to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said Daniel Pipkin his heirs and assigns forever and I the sd John Bentley for myself my heirs exr's and adm's do covenant grant promise and agree to and with the sd Daniel Pipkin his heirs and assigns in manner and form as follweth that I the sd John Bentley my heirs exr's and adm's the above bargained premises and appurtenances and every part or parcel thereof to sd Daniel Pipkin his heirs exr's and adm's and assigns against the lawfull claim of any person or persons whatsoever and will warrant and defend the sd land. In witness hereof I have set my hand and seal this 28th day of November in the year 1783.
