State of North Carolina, Pitt County} Know all men by these presents that I, Palmer Cannon, for 
an in consideration of the natural love which I have and had for my daughter, Elender Cannon, I 
do hereby give unto her one negro woman, Mary, aged about six years and her future increase. 
I also give unto my daughter Elender one fifth part of my land containing one hundred and eight 
acres, also one bed, bedstead, and furniture, I do give unto my daughter Elender and her heirs 
forever. As witness I do hereby set my hand and seal this the 30th of April 1847.

Then this deed of gift from Palmer Cannon to Elender Cannon was proven in open court by the 
oath of B. H. Hazleton, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto. Let it be registered.
