State of North Carolina, Pitt County} Know all men by these presents that I, Palmer Cannon, for 
an in consideration of the natural love which I have and bear for my daughter, Nancy Cannon, I 
do hereby give unto her one negro woman, Zilpha and her future increase. I also give unto my 
daughter Nancy one fifth part of my land containing one hundred and eight acres, also one bed, 
bedstead, and furniture, I do give unto my daughter Nancy and her heirs forever. As witness I 
do hereby set my hand and seal this the 30th of April 1847.

Then this deed of gift from Palmer Cannon to Nancy was proven in open court by the oath of B. 
H. Hazleton, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto. Let it be registered.
