State of North Carolina, Pitt County} Know all men by these presents that I, Palmer Cannon, for 
an in consideration of the natural love which I have and had for my son, William Cannon, I do 
hereby give unto him one negro boy, Arch, about four years old. I also give unto my son William 
one fifth part of my land containing one hundred and eight acres, also one bed, bedstead, and 
furniture, I do give unto my son William Cannon and his heirs forever. As witness I do hereby 
set my hand and seal this the 30th of April 1847.

Then this deed of gift from Palmer Cannon to William Cannon was proven in open court by the 
oath of B. F. Hazleton, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto. Let it be registered.
