Know all men by these presents that I Nancy Cannon of the County of Pitt and State of North 
Carolina of the first part, in consideration of the sum of four thousand dollars and two hundred 
and ninety-eight dollars to me in hand paid by Thomas Cannon of the County of Pitt and State 
of North Carolina of the second part, the receipt is hereby fully acknowledged, have bargained 
and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell and convey unto Thomas Cannon, certain 
negroes slaves named Bob, Fed, Mary, and Judah, to have and to hold unto the said Thomas 
Cannon, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever, and for the better security of 
the title hereby conveyed, I, Nancy Cannon, do for myself and my heirs, executors, 
administrators and assigns, do warrant and forever defend the same from the lawful claims of 
any and all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this the 
4th day of January 1854.

August Term 1854. Then this bill sale from Nancy Cannon to Thomas Cannon was proved in 
open court by the oath of John C. Cox, a witness thereto, let it be registered.
