All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Carrie Fleischer - carriefleischer@hotmail.com Deed Book NN Page 19 Grantor: Edward CARMAN Grantee: Cordelia CARMAN Enslaved person(s): Ceasar [Caesar] Date: 18 Feb 1851 Know all men by these presents that I, Edward Carman, of the County of Greene and State of North Carolina, for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Cordelia Carman, of the County of Pitt and State of North Carolina, the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Cordelia Carman, her heirs and assigns, all my right, title and interest in and to a certain negro man by the name Ceasar which right and title was vested in me by a Deed of Gift to me, the said Edward Carman, executed on the 20th day of August AD 1844, by the said Cordelia Carman, as on reference to said deed will more fully appear, and to have and to hold unto her, the aforesaid Cordelia Carman, her heirs and assigns forever free and discharged from the lawful claim which I, the said Edward Carman is or may be entitled to by virtue of the aforesaid Deed of Gift, and for the better security of the title hereby conveyed, I for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns do warrant and forever defend the same from the lawful claim of any and all persons whatever. In testimony whereof I, the said Edward Carman, hereunto set my hand and seal, February 18th 1851. Ack. Edward Carman [seal mark] Test. Robert W. Spivey August Term 1851 Then this deed from Edward Carman to Cordelia Carman was exhibited into open court and acknowledged by the said Edward to be his act and deed. Let it be registered. Attest. H.
