All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Carrie Fleischer - carriefleischer@hotmail.com Deed Book II Page 120 Grantor: William CLARK Grantee: Alfred STOCKS Enslaved person(s): Lousetta Date: 6 Apr 1839 Know all men by these presents that I, William Clark, for and in consideration of the [sum of] four hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Alfred Stocks of the County of [Pitt and] State of North Carolina, the receipt and payment whereof I do hereby acknowledge, hath [given], granted, bargained, sold and conveyed, and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain [and sell] unto the said Alfred Stocks, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, one negro girl [named] Lousetta, to have and to hold unto the said Alfred Stocks, his heirs and assigns the aforesaid negro girl named Lousetta, and I, the said William Clark,doth forever defend the right and title to the aforesaid negro girl Lousetta to be [free and] clear from the lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever.
