Know all men by these presents, that for the consideration of the sum of eight hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Thomas Cannon of the same State and County, the receipt of which I acknowledge, have bargained and sold to him, the said Thomas Cannon, two negroes, a boy named Sam about twelve years old, a girl named Mathew, about three years old, which two negroes I warrant and defend the right to be good to him the said Thomas Cannon, his heirs and assigns, against the lawful claim of all persons whatsoever. In witness of which I have set my hand and seal 23rd February 1848, in presence of Josiah Cox.
