Know all men by these presents, that I, John W. Forbes, have bargained and sold unto James 
H. Forbes, one negro woman by the name of Reyny for the sum of four hundred dollars, the 
payment whereof is hereby acknowledged, to have and to hold the said negro woman and heirs 
for himself and his heirs free from all claims whatsoever. Given under my hand and seal this 
24th day of December 1847.

Then the within bill of sale was proven in open court on oath by Alfred Forbes, a subscribing 
witness thereto, let it be registered.
