FRIZZLE Enslaved person(s): Dinah and her child Penny; Bryant Date: 16 Feb 1830 Know all men by these presents that I, Jonathan Frizzle of the County of Pitt and State of North Carolina of the one part, and Elizabeth H. Frizzle of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that I, the aforesaid Jonathan Frizzle, for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have and bear unto my daughter, the aforesaid Elizabeth H. Frizzle, and for an in consideration of the further sum of ten cents to me in hand paid, the [receipt] whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath given, granted, bargained, and sold, and [by] these presents doth give, grant, bargain, sell and convey unto her the aforesaid Elizabeth H. Frizzle, her heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, the following described negroes, viz, one negro woman Dinah, and her child Penny, and negro boy Bryant, to have and to hold unto her, the aforesaid Elizabeth H. Frizzle, her heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever the above described negroes, and I, the aforesaid Jonathan Frizzle do bind myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns to warrant and forever defend the aforesaid negroes to be free and clear from the lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the sixteenth day of February AD 1830. This 7th day of March 1833, before [me] Robert Strange, one of the judges of the Superior Courts of Law and Equity, in and for the State aforesaid, came William Clark, one of the subscribing witnesses to the within deed, and proved the execution thereof.
