FRIZZLE Enslaved person(s): Mary Date: 4 Mar 1830 Know all men by these presents, that I, Jonathan Frizzle, of the County of Pitt and State of North Carolina, for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have and bear unto my beloved son Warren P. Frizzle, and for diverse other good causes and considerations me hereunto moving, and for the consideration of the sum of one dollar to me [in] hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have given, granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do give, grant, bargain and sell unto my said son Warren P. Frizzle, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever, a certain negro girl slave named Mary and all her future increase, to have and to hold unto him, the said Warren P. Frizzle, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever the aforesaid negro girl slave Mary and all her future increase, and I, the aforesaid Jonathan Frizzle, do covenant and agree and bind myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns to warrant and forever defend the aforesaid negro slave Mary and all her increase unto him, the aforesaid Warren P. Frizzle, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns forever against the lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the fourth day of March AD 1830. This 7th day of March 1833, before [me] Robert Strange, one of the judges of the Superior Courts of Law and Equity, in and for the State aforesaid, came William Clark, one of the subscribing witnesses to the within deed, and proved the execution thereof.
