This indenture made this third day of May one thousand eight hundred and two between John Haddock of Pitt County and State of North Carolina of the one part and Charles Haddock of the state and County above mentioned of the other part witnesseth that John Haddock for and inconsideration of the sum of one hundred pounds currency paid to him in hand and accept whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold and certain tract of land beginning on the south side of the Clayroot Swamp at a Cypress running with a marked line to John Haddock then with the said to David Sutton Corner then that of David Sutton to his corner that north course to the Clayroot Swamp then down the swamp tot he beginning containing three hundred more or less. To have and to hold the said tract of land to the Charles Haddock his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Haddock for him self his heirs and assigns doth promise and agree only I preserve my life in the land to feed and raise stock and cut timber and with the said Charles, his heirs and assigns shall equally warrant and defend the same to the said Charles Haddock his heirs and assigns against the claims and demands of any or all persons whatsoever in witness whereof the said John Haddock hath here unto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.
