This indenture made this the third day of May one thousand eight hundred and two between John Haddock of Pitt County and State of North Carolina of the one part and Hall Haddock of the county and state above mentioned of the other part witnesseth that the said John Haddock for inconsideration of the sum of one hundred pounds currency paid to me in had receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sole and certain tract of land containing one hundred and fifty acres more or less on the north east side of the Indian Well Swamp beginning at a white oak on the said swamp running thence 32 degrees et. about one hundred and ten poles to a pine thence by a line of marked trees cross the Long Branch at a tract granted unto the said John Mills as by pattent the said tract of land to the Hall Haddock his heirs or assigns forever and the said John Haddock for himself his heirs and assigns doth promise and agreeably I preserve my life time in the said land and my dear wife Liscom life time in the said land to and with the said same unto the said Hall Haddock his heirs and assigns against the claim and demands of any or all persons whatsoever in the witness whereof the said John Haddock hath there unto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.
