This Indenture made this third day of May one thousand eight hundred and two between John Haddock of Pitt County and the State of North Carolina of the one part and Zachariah Haddock of the County and state above mentioned of the other part witnesseth that the said John Haddock for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds currency paid to him in hand the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold a certain tract of land containing one hundred acres more or less beginning at a gum tree in the middle of the Cow Swamp running with the branch by the name of Merins Branch to Moses Moores line then with his line to the corner then with his line to the branch then in his line round the Cow Swamp then down the middle of the Cow swamp to the beginning it is part of the two pattents on of John Simpson and Peter Albritton deceased also another patent beginning at a cypress tree in the Round Pocopsom and running south 127 poles to a pine then east a cypress then west 127 poles to the beginning containing one hundred acres more or less to have and hold the said tracts of land unto Zachariah Haddock his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Haddock for himself his heirs and assign doth promise and agree only I preserve my life in the land to feed and raise stock and cut timbers and with said Zachariah Haddock his heirs and assigns against the claims and demands of any all persons whatsoever in Witness whereof the said John Haddock hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written sealed and delivered in presence of ...
